Israel arrests 3 Lebanese Radwan Force members: army

JERUSALEM, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) — Israel’s military announced on Tuesday that it has arrested three fighters from Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force in Lebanon.
In a statement, the military said that during a ground operation by the 13th Battalion of the Golani Brigade in southern Lebanon, an underground tunnel was discovered inside a building used by Hezbollah.
Israeli troops surrounded the building, where three militants from the Radwan Force had barricaded themselves. A large cache of weapons and equipment for long-term stays was found at the site, according to the military.
The fighters were apprehended and “interrogated by field investigators from Unit 504,” said the military, adding that they were later transferred to a detention facility in Israel for further investigation.
The military released a photo showing a man, identified as one of the three fighters, handcuffed with his hands behind his back while an Israeli soldier lifted his head by pulling up the hoodie he was wearing.
Earlier this week, the military said that Israeli soldiers arrested another Hezbollah fighter, identifying him as the first member of the group to be taken captive since the ongoing conflict began last October.
The Hezbollah fighter was found in an underground tunnel beneath a building in southern Lebanon and transferred for further questioning in Israel following initial interrogation in the field.
The military also released a video showing part of the interrogation, during which the fighter claimed that the Radwan Force “planned to respond to the attack, to advance into the Galilee (in Israel), but after Hassan Nasrallah’s assassination, none of them were seen.” ■
