‘A Father And Example’: Quincy Jones’ Legacy Celebrated On Social Media

Quincy Jones’ huge mark in the entertainment world was apparent on social media on Monday afternoon.
Within hours of the announcement that Jones had died at age 91, his friends, colleagues and admirers from all over show business started paying their respects to the music legend.
Whoopi Goldberg, whose film “The Color Purple” was produced, in part, by Jones, took a moment on Monday’s episode of “The View” to offer this tribute:
“I can’t even explain what’s happening in my head right now,” Goldberg said as she transitioned from discussing the election to highlighting Jones’ life and career. “We just lost the extraordinary Quincy Jones, songwriter, composer, producer; he worked with everybody.”
Actor Michael Caine, who was born on the exact same day as the producer, joined in celebrating him.
My Celestial twin Quincy was a titan in the musical world. He was a wonderful and unique human being, lucky to have known him.
LL Cool J posted his own tribute on Instagram and called Jones “a father and example at a time when I truly needed a father and example.”

Although Jones was the one being celebrated on Monday, his last message on social media was a tribute to his daughter, Martina, who turned 58 on Sunday.
